About ACNA

ACNA is the Australasian Cognitive Neurology Association.

The Australasian Cognitive Neurology Association (formerly Australasian Cognitive Neurology Society) was formed in 2018. As cognitive and behavioural neurologists, we recognise the importance of early detection and management of all cognitive disorders. We are committed to the sharing of knowledge, training and education for cognitive neurologists, and engagement in collaborative research. Since its inception, ACNA has seen a rapid expansion of focus on dementia services and the need for specialist neurologists in this field. We work cohesively with other cognitive specialists such as those in geriatric medicine and neuropsychiatry towards the improvement of services nationwide.

ACNA includes neurologists and interested clinicians in Australia and New Zealand. It disseminates information about cognitive impairment of all types and fosters education amongst health practitioners. Members have access to educational material including lecture notes, and videos on cognitive assessment, impairment and management.

The Australasian Cognitive Neurology Association is a professional not-for-profit organisation. ACNA brings together neurologists interested in conditions affecting thinking and behaviour. As physicians in Australia and Oceania, we are driven by a single goal; to improve the lives of patients and families living with cognitive disorders. We strive to form a cohesive and collaborative association of doctors, with leading roles in research, policy, education, and advocacy. Cognitive neurologists use evidence-based treatment and management for patients experiencing types of dementia such as Alzheimer's disease, frontotemporal dementia, Lewy body dementia, and vascular dementia, as well as conditions such as stroke, Parkinson's disease, MS, epilepsy, and encephalitis. Together we make a difference.
